Wenge Hardwood: Color Richness and Extreme Hardness

Wenge wood, known for its elegance and durability, is a popular choice for yacht flooring due to its rich, dark color and exceptional strength. Derived from the Millettia laurentii tree found in Central Africa, Wenge wood features a striking deep brown to nearly black hue with distinctive streaks of black, providing a luxurious and sophisticated look to yacht interiors.

One of the primary reasons Wenge wood is highly sought after for yacht flooring is its exceptional hardness and density, making it highly resistant to wear, moisture, and decay. This makes it well-suited for withstanding the demanding conditions of marine environments, ensuring longevity and minimal maintenance for yacht owners.
In addition to its robust nature, Wenge wood offers a smooth and uniform texture, further enhancing its appeal for yacht flooring applications. Its fine grain and natural luster exude a sense of opulence, elevating the overall aesthetic of the yacht interior.
Beyond its visual and structural benefits, Wenge wood is also revered for its sustainability. With responsible sourcing and production practices, yacht owners can enjoy the beauty of Wenge wood while supporting environmentally conscious choices.
Overall, Wenge wood stands as a premier choice for yacht flooring, combining timeless elegance, resilience, and sustainable qualities to create a luxurious and enduring marine interior experience.

Hard Maple: A U.S. Domestic Stable Hardwood

Hard Maple is prized for its exceptional hardness, durability, and light color. Because of its hardness, it ranks high on the Janka scale, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. Its durability makes it perfect for flooring, furniture, and cabinetry due to its impressive longevity nature. Hard Maple’s appearance is a pale and uniform color with a fine grain pattern and natural luster. Traditionally, yachts had the Holly wood for the light color strips in the flooring. Due to Holly’s slow growth nature, we utilize Hard Maple in our nautical-themed flooring and products because of its sustainability. Hard Maple has replaced Holly in the marine industry for interior soles. Despite Hard Maple’s hardness, it allows precision machining and detailed craftsmanship, perfect for marine and home craftsmen alike.

As your yacht moves, everything needs to move with it. We manufacture our yacht flooring at 3/8” thick to encourage further stability; this allows the floor to move with your yacht and “marry” itself to its environment instead of fighting against it.

If you are looking for a nautical-themed interior and want a deep, rich color tone, then the Wenge & Maple Yacht Flooring is for you.
